Emberlock Games' very first commercial game is now available in its Alpha Release! See below for details...
Solar Scavenge Squad (SSS) is a quick cooperative boardgame-style PC game for 1-or-more players, with light deck-building elements, a sci-fi theme, and highly customizable rules.
It is 2805.
Humanity has recovered from its darkest times, colonized the solar system with the aid of artificial intelligence, and now expands into the stars. In the wake of the edge of progress, desperate people and broken machines are left behind, to make of themselves what they can...
You are a Scavenger.
Your livelihood lies out there in the great darkness: derelict spacecraft abandoned out of necessity, or whose destruction left no witnesses. Coordinates for all manner of scan abnormalities are always available in trade, and crew ready for hire. Each job is different, but the objective's always the same.
Each game is one mission for your squad: progress through 6 randomized rooms of a derelict spacecraft, grab the treasure, and get back out through those same 6 rooms.
Retrieve the target ship's Treasure from its wreckage, and get it back to your boarding craft at any cost. Your squad is expendable, that Treasure is not!
Your actions will attract attention, and your squad must fight off a steady stream of spawning enemies, using a hand of cards which is consumed during combat and replenished between rounds. Damage taken is added into your deck as wounds, and poisons your hand once drawn, reducing the number of usable cards you may hold.
You must balance the risks you take and maximize use of your character's star ability to increase your odds of success.
The Alpha Test is an early preview of the game, in a currently-unfinished state.
The intent of this test is to experiment with gameplay mechanics and design. The game is likely to change significantly in future releases.
The game is currently available for Windows in a public alpha test, hosted as on itch.io
For the alpha release, all games (even single-player) will have to be run remotely on an official game server.
Future releases will support self-hosted servers (ideal for single-player and LAN).
Please send any bug or crash reports to alphaBug@emberlockgames.com, along with as much detail as possible (ideally including a log of the game)
To save a log file for a game from within an active game, press ESC to open the game-table menu, then click Save Log. See the Gameplay Guide for where this file is saved to.
